2.2.6 Determine Language Name and Language ID
Because Revit asks you for a language name, you need to know what language your choice of language will be. For this reason, you should use the command-line parameter /language to determine this information before you start the application. If you do not, you will not know whether the language you choose will be available to you.
The /language switch only works with a batch file. If you try to use it with a shortcut, the shortcut just does not know what language to use. If you use a shortcut, you must specify the language yourself.
**NOTE** Revit does not inform you that you should use the /language switch. It just assumes that you do not need to. The only time you need to use the /language switch is if you want to set your batch file to the default language. If you do not, you can just run your batch file.
